There can be duty charged on items and it depends on what the thing is made from and where it is coming in from, and how much it is listed for on the customs form.
The Badges are being sent out as small packages with a cost of less than $200.00 us dollars. (which is the US personal item exemption limit) This should allow them to pass without duty charges.
However, If the particular customs agent, on the day your badge crosses his or her desk, is having a bad day, or is in a particularly crabby mood, all bets are off. Anything is possible.
But I don't expect anyone in the US to be charged duty on the badges.
I, of course, cannot comment on the customs systems in the UK, the EU or elsewhere. The UK system is totally without rhyme or reason. I mean the things were made in Scotland. But may be charged just because they first went on a couple of plane trips to Canada and back.

Thanks for the info, Steve. It confirms my suspicions. After all, what are customs declarations for, if not the chance to charge something.
I can only cross my fingers and that everybody in Customs have a good day when my package reaches the border.
Wompet, where are you when we need you!

Now see, if you had come to the Friday seminars of the Kilt Kamp, you could have picked yours up like I did.
