There have been some fine examples of Walking Sticks on this thread thank you all who have added thus far, one thing please, I ask that this thread be about Walking Sticks not Sgian Dubhs. With the plethora of threads devoted to sgian dubhs on the site I really see no need to fill up a Walking Stick thread with them as well, thanks for your consideration.

Sorry my friend, no hijack intended.
I just admire all of KC's work, sticks as well as faux sgian dubhs!
Nonetheless, point taken.

KC makes masterpieces... it's not scottish, but he took my personality and requests with the command of "do with it as you will" and this is what I got:

I had the best experience with a merchant that I've ever had. And have since purchased at least 6 items, some for myself and others.

Tyger132,
That is is a very handsome piece.
Do you know what the wood is? It looks like a cherry stain. The top with the hole has a very organic feel to it. Like the maker was working with the material rather than imposing their designs on it.
Cheers

It's a Paduak from Africa... i found a great place in Michigan that supplies turning woods in different exotics and selected that one, then had it shipped to the carver. It was Orange and I mean bright orange, but all the research said it would turn red. The longest piece I could find was a 2x2 36"... The finish is an oil and KC had to apply 10+ coats and it turned a most beautiful red. It was amazing and if I can find the link to the wood supplier, I will send to you if interested.
I'm considering commissioning a second piece, but for now I have two plaques in the works... a celtic cross and one that is the symbol found on the MacKay Country Gateway Signposts.

I have a Irish blackthorn root knob walking stick in transit from Ireland but I also have this stick.
I made this stick over 20 years ago. It is nothing fancy yet it is entirely unique. It is made from a log scaling stick...they probably don't even make them anymore...but they used to use them to gauge the thickness, and maybe even board feet, of a truck load of logs. The originals were probably eight feet long with a numerical scale on each side of the stick and the handle was usually longer and wider than what you see on mine. You can still see some of the scaling on the side of the handle. The source for this stick was broken...that's how I obtained it.
I originally made it as a wading staff--I used to flyfish for steelhead before I got too old and boogered up to wade deep turbulent rivers. But this stick has seen many a riffle on the North Umpqua, the Rogue, the Clackamas, both Santiams and of course the Deschutes...as well as a few coastal streams, as well. and it has saved my bacon a number of times. Its life as a wading staff is why it has a lanyard attached to it. I used to pin it to my vest and if I ever lost hold of it, it could not float away. But the lanyard is still handy using it as a walking stick. I can throw the stick over my shoulder and carry it slung...almost like a rifle.
