My 62nd Kilt Purchase - Antarctica Tartan Kilt

OKAY, there are better pics at the end of page 3 of this thread...

I ordered this up on April 3rd and Kathy had it ready on May 30 but I asked her to hang on to it until I returned from vacation. And there was a bit of a wait as I was behind an All Ireland Green special order for a band in L.A. another Dalgliesh special order.

The tartan is 13 ounce woven by D.C. Dalgliesh Mills for the United Kingdom Antarctic Heritage Trust. Kathy Lare of Kathy's Kilts in Albuquerque hand sewed the kilt. This was the 1093rd kilt she has sewn.

The hose are Ancient Red Lewis kilt hose from Scottish Tartans Museum and the sporran is the brown leather Nightstalker from Stillwater Kilts. Shoes are Z Coils.

It was HOT out so didn't trek to a scenic location in wool kilt and hose. Maybe later.

If you're wondering about the quality of D.C. Dalgliesh Mills fabric or Kathy Lare's craftsmanship the pleat shot was taken immediatly after I'd been sitting on them for two hours straight for a local church open house.

Have loved this tartan since I first saw it sewn up by Barb T. Not just for the beauty of the tartan but for what the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust stands for.

    Awesome kilt you have there...
First time I see the tartan on a man, I have to say that I WANT one.
    But it'll have to wait...
But you look great (it kinda matches your beard...;o)

And now you just need a penguin sporran... or maybe a penguin looking hat...

Bravo, Ron. That tartan may be the "next Isle of Skye" here on XMTS I think!
