For the Clergy - kilt purchasing advice
I'm looking for my first kilt in the Clergy tartan (I am Ordained), however, I have a budget of only $100 US. I've been looking at the FC 16oz and the CC economy. Does anyone have personal experience with either of these kilts?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Sport Kilt is another option. Although USAKilts Casual is $110 with Clark tartan. All in all, I'd go with the custom fit and Rocky. Now if you wanted Bright Skye then definatly FC...

Doh! Thanks, Grant. I'd missed that Rocky had a Clark tartan. Oh, I do so love options!

Id go with the USA kilt in the casual. I have an FC in the clergy tartan, but I just dont like that acrylic when it comes to kilts, I hardly wear the thing. I wear my USA casual far more often.

I have an FC kilt in the Clergy tartan. I do like the fabric in the 16 oz. version. It has the feel of wool, but I don't worry about getting it messed up, especially in bad weather. It is far more comfortable than wool when it's hot out.
As metioned above, though, in bright light, the colors are BRIGHT! It looks more purple than blue then. Almost as if I were a bishop. ![Twisted Evil](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif)
I also have a Sportkilt in the tartan, which is far more traditional looking. I say that because the coloring is close to the tank I have in it. It is light and great for hot weather.

Thanks for the advice, Gentlemen. It appears I may not need it as quickly as thought. If I can put it off a bit, I'll try to save up for a hand sewn. I'm most grateful for the input, Thanks again.

That sounds like a wise choice. I think most situations in which I think I would want a Clergy kilt (I done been ordinated too), would be more formal.

Aye, a hand-sewn Clergy/Clark tank is what I'm saving for. But, it's the jonesing that is difficult to bear

I'm seriously looking at the Clergy (Logan) in blacks and greys. I think that would be quite sharp with a Clerical Tab shirt, while being subdued enough to stand out less. Though, as stated in Matt Newsome's article on the Clergy tartan, I reserve the right to wear my Clan Crawford kilt with the Collar, if it comes to that.

I have a USAK Clergy, and it is stunning. It's easily my favorite kilt. Go with Rocky- you won't be let down.
