Wearing kilts as a mark of respect
The main reason I wear my kilt is that, less than 250 years ago, my ancestors were banned from wearing theirs. Now, I have a strong defiant streak in me that rails against such prohibitions and, for me anyway, I walk with a swing and a spring in my step at every opportunity I can get to show that, as Scots, we reclaimed our heritage and wear our kilts once more.
There are also any number of other, perhaps more practical, reasons as well but, for me personally, this is what makes me strap it on.
Do you understand where I'm coming from?
Bruce

Yes Sir, swinging and springing right with you, as well.

Swinging and springing sounds about right!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Although I am a mere 25% Scottish, and 75% dastardly English (but proud of that too), count me in as a swinger and a springer!
Take care,
Ham.

Eh. Come on, man. It's been 250 years. Let it go. There are plenty of practical reasons to wear the kilt, and this ain't one of them.

But it's his personal reason...it may not be right for you, but horses for courses and all that.

He asked a question. I answered it. If he'd meant, "Do you understand where I'm coming from (and don't respond if you take exception)?" I'm sure that's what he would've posted. I mean, really; he's out to get a rich variety of opinions here, right? How boring if everyone just writes back a bunch of good-on-ya's and me-too's.

I wear kilts just for comfort and for fun.
