Good grief. The clothing I wear is what I have found to be comfortable and what I wear under it is just no one's freakin' business!!! I find all this interest in under garments just a bit disturbing.

If you don't want to answer, then don't answer. The OP was asking a question based on the shared knowledge and experience of board members in order to make a wiser decision for himself. It's not as if he asked in a husky voice "What are you wearing?"

Way back in the day, when I was forced to wear the dreaded cloth tubes by the Marine Corps, I liked Hanes, all cotton boxers, as they had the closest feeling for me of movement and freedom. But it has been several years, so they may have changed the quality.

When I'm not wearing a kilt I'm usually wearing jeans. Lots of jeans dissing on this group but I still find them comfortable..."dockers" are right out and "relaxed fit" jeans need not apply. Quite a while back I got locked into wearing the solid colored briefs with a medium rise and no trap on the front and those have been the most comfortable and practical underwear solution that I've found. I think that the "no trap" part is what makes them workable...they keep everything in its place, have minimal seams and the waistband is lower than the waistband on the jeans so there's no problem with two layers of fabric bulking up at the waist.

I wear biker style briefs with jeans/slacks/etc. They breathe really well, hold everything just right, and at the same time are very flexible as they're for working out in.

I wear the same thing kilted if I feel modesty is an issue, i.e. if I'll be seated the majority of the time on couches or low chairs. Bar stools, at a dinner table, or standing, no issue.

Generally boxers with trousers, but never if they are seamed up the middle of the seat. I find the most comfortable are those made of jersey (same as t-shirts) and I tend to buy mine at Lewins on Jermyn Street. With a kilt it's Jockey boxer briefs with the pouch front and horizontal fly. This makes going to the toilet much easier as you do not have to pull down the waistband of your underpants when you wish to urinate. I personally find the vertical, or "key hole", fly an annoyance.

As a general rule snug fitting trousers require a more fitted underpant than baggy trousers. Style, again, is a personal matter but a gentleman would be advised to try several styles to see what fits most comfortably, and then buy accordingly. Most undergarments are approaching being worn out after about twenty launderings, so you should plan on buying new underwear every six months or so.

I might add this bit of advice to those gentlemen who always go "commando": Avoid wearing light coloured trousers.

I wear briefs. Though I do occasionally wear boxers. It just feels more comfortable to me.
