Crail vs. Argyle

So what I feel I am hearing, is that there is no hard and fast rule as to what defines a type of jacket. It seems there can be enormous variation on a specific jacket type, depending on who is making that jacket.

They are really only variations of the same jacket so make the choice based on your tastes.

I am going to buy a braemar in tweed black (black tweed?) from Rocky at USA kilts. I saw one when I was in his store and thought it looked a whole lot nicer than the colours I see on most Argyll coats I see out there, usually I see that Lovat green or something else which looks pastel.

Yes to Argyll. A Craill won't do for formal events, and for casual events in cold weather, you'll want to wear a cardigan, sweatshirt, or waist-length jacket.
