Try calling Jan or Frank Vance 828-733-1333. They have bee very helpful in answering my questions and actually called me. I'll bet they can tell you if there is space available
I'll be going up tuesday - you're welcome to share with me if I get a large enough site. I'll bet they can squeeze you in though.

I have called that number several times, and left voice mail, as have a few friends. No reply yet.

Good Golly Gosh its almost here! I'll only be able to make it for the Saturday and Sunday still, but two days of Highland Games is still better than zero days.

No one can get through to the Games office, and the website's camping application has been taken down. I have a few friends that were a bit late in booking...ok, and myself included...I did leave voice mail, but no reply as of yet.
When I called the office yesterday, I talked to Phoebe. She is who I have gone through every year.

The word from the mountain is they stopped taking reservations two weeks ago after they over booked the RV section.
Nice of them to post this on the web page. Even better they have no one manning the phones, it's taken me 4 days to get this much info, and I had to call a camper to get this far!
Every year I find a new reason to stop going to Grandfather. Loch Norman is so far ahead of them it's not funny.
If anyone knows of a campground or cabins for rent to house 7 stranded Canadian adults, please let me know.

Camping and kilt wearing is quite the combination in preparation for the journey. (I have three clan affiliations and a formal dinner to attend Saturday. Next year, I just may back one Utilikilt!) I'll be leaving Thursday morning and will be working two jobs Tuesday and Wednesday. So, I've been pre-packing. It's quite an undertaking getting everything ready to load in the old Bronco, Thursday morning. (And then there is that lawn, I should cut before heading south.)
Sorry to read about MacMoose's woes. It's a popular place to go and fills up early.
Oh, yeah, don't forget the marshmallows. Let's see, how will I'll I recognize the other XMarkers? They will be the ones with the biggest grins!

I am not throwing in the towel just yet. I've been camping there for years, this is the first time I have seen this crap happen. Never had a porblem with getting a site, even late, but then, I don't recall them ever booking 20 more RVs than they have room for.

Don't give up. There are always people that cancel at the last minute or don't show up.

I have 6 people driving down from Canada, so I can't just hope for a last minute opening....as for me, I can probably weasel my way in. Then again,I may just skip the whole thing, and stay in Canada for another week.
