New SWK sporran and strap

My current plan is the flatten the flap and in line with the back of the sporran under a heavy book, then to stuff the sporran with tissue paper, secure the flap with rubber bands on each side and store it that way.

Before you do that, it is best to moisten the leather, I use a mix of water and about 10%-15% rubbing alcohol to aid adsorption. It will cause the leather to take a "set" faster. As for the rough flesh side of the sporran strap, this can be burnished off with some sort of abrasive. Check with a harness & tack shop (Western), they will know what is best for that job.
