I am one of two people I know who regularly wear the kilt in Singapore. By this I am not counting pipers who wear it as part of the uniform, nor staff from the local Highland-themed bar and restaurant... We both wear contemporary kilt. I have 3 AKs and a tailored camo, while my compatriot owns several UKs.
Family has been accepting, girlfriend has been positively supportive. People on the street may give looks but will tend to keep their opinions to themselves. I've had questions and quips, but nothing more serious than that. We have no 'kilt scene' to speak of, no ren faires, no highland games, no kilt nights (that I know of). Certainly nothing as vibrant as Vancouver's Gung Haggis Fatt Choy.
