I do sincerely hope this works out OK for you both in the long run. My daughter has an exceptionally high IQ, was at the time one of the youngest ever members of MENSA, attended a school for gifted children for part of her education and obtained a very good university degree, yet she has been unable to cope with the real working world. She gave up a good university teaching job over three years ago, since when she has become a recluse and lives alone with her pet rats. Although she still keeps in touch by e-mail I have not seen her since she stopped working.

That sounds just like the story of my eldest son's first bagpipe lesson. Now he's looking at colleges that have pipe bands and considering a career in HIgh School band directing.

My daughter was very similar when it came to music. By the time she was in the 6th grade, she was playing in the local high school band, and by the time she was actually a high school freshman, she was playing just about any woodwind you can name.

Sadly this is often true. My opinion is that God gave as an equal amount of "brain". The question is how is this then spreaded over all skills needed in everyday living.

Good luck to all gifted and challenged kids and their parents!
