    I must say, that is a beautiful tartan, and i have to admit to never having seen it before now.
    It's quite unusual to see Ghillie brogues being worn with service dress though,...but very smart they are!!!

    Interesting to note that officers and warrant officers are the only ones permitted to wear a sgian dubh. If my memory is correct, that's the equivalent of an E-8 and E-9 in the US military. We had contingents of Overwatch Battlegroup - West hanging out with us for up to a month at a time. Great group of guys - more helpful than any American unit that stopped by.

    As it occurs, E-8 and E-9 are the senior enlisted ranks. The US military (except the Air Force) has warrant officers as well who rank above enlisted, but below commissioned.
