Amen Alan! No matter how much you doll up a $30 synthetic jacket - in the end its a $30 synthetic jacket. Nothing wrong with that as long as you keep your perspective. It reminds me of sage advice I received from my first boss. He always said "keep moving and look good at a distance."

I think I need another kilt.

When obsessing over trashmo make-it-yourself kilts and thirty dollar unlined polyester Eton jackets, I HIGHLY recommend that folks.
1. have a beer
2. take a deep breath
3. spring into ACTION!!!!!! Don't think it to death! Don't read the instructions twenty times! Don't post about it and every flippin detail ad nauseum. JUST DO IT!
4. have another beer
5. wear said article and make eyes at the lasses.
Carry on, gentlemen.

Hey, what's wrong with posting "every flipping detail ad nauseum"?
But I do agree with the "have another beer" bit!
Be well,

Obsessing vs having fun? Can't it be both?
I read through the manual a couple times before I got started, but that was before I had the material and was ready. I was killing time and trying to get a better idea of how the whole thing was going to work.
There's nothing wrong with being meticulous and cautious, as long as you don't stress yourself out or grind the whole process to a halt.

Amen -- obsess a bit and be meticulous and have fun at the same time!
Why not?
Everybody's different!!! and have different ways of dealing with things.
It's up to you, the reader, to skip a post if you think it's too, too, detailed!
We're here to share our stories, pictures, and help each other, aren't we? Perhaps, to show off too and take pride in what we have and have made. But nobody's obliged to anybody (other than basic respect to each other).
But I heartily agree with having a beer, taking a deep breath and just doing it and having another beer!
P.S. Oh and posters might do well to have a disclaimer at the start of their post warning that it will be very obsessive-detail-oriented or something to that effect -if that's what it'll be. LOL. Oh and write the name of the tartan if you post a picture.
