News from the Erisian Monkeys
Hi all!
I know it has been awhile since I posted. (vBulletin has certainly let me know, it has been telling me on every page since I logged into the site this afternoon.) But as most know, that's kind of my way, I drift in and out.
The good:
I think last time I posted, the redhead had just started her new job. That's going pretty well. She has, like she always does, made herself indispensable over there at the store.
I've started getting some long needed medical treatment, and they've got me on some meds that are starting to help. I can even make it to the corner store without having to stop and rest now!
The bad:
Helena's job means some long hours. It is a bit of a strain for her, but she is holding up.
The upstairs neighbor's water heater broke, flooding our hallway. We had to have the carpet and 95% of the drywall replaced. We still haven't got the apartment back into shape from that, as I'm still having a lot of trouble and need Helena's help for some things and she's almost always either at work or collapsed in bed exhausted.
There's still a lot of problems I have that are untreated as of yet, so more doc appointments and the like are in the works. I had to do a sleep test last week, and I did not like that at all. (other than getting the undivided attention of the pretty blonde technician, that is )
The ugly:
In mid-July, a guy grabbed Helena at the bus stop-in THAT way. I won't elaborate. They caught him, but the arraignment isn't until October. I'm hoping they throw him in a cell with a big guy who doesn't like scum like that and lose the key. I say that because I know they won't give me what I really want. (An hour and a half with him and fishhooks, copper wire, a glass sound, a ball peen hammer, and a car battery. Again, I won't elaborate.)
The summary:
It may not quite seem that way from just reading the little blurbs, but the good is mostly outweighing the bad and ugly at this point. It's a nice change to have some good going on after the first half of this year.
I've decided to quit smoking. I haven't done it quite yet, but I am going to. It isn't easy, I've been trying to cut down before I set the actual quit date, and that's a frustration in itself. I will succeed though. I got myself off drugs (cold turkey and done with it, mind you) and I can do a year or two without a drop of alcohol standing on my head. (Well, at least I could if I could stand on my head.)
Well, that's news from my little world, and a partial explanation of why I've not been around much lately or updated my blog. Hope everyone here in this neck of the internet is doing alright. I'm going to try and start being on the forum a bit more, but I'm making no promises as to posting. I'll read what I read, and say only what I say.

wow, hard to know what to say after reading your post. I am glad for you that the good is outweighing the not so good. May you and your loved ones come to know happiness and freedom from suffering.

Welcome back Charles. Good to see you posting again.
[lame] We all have to get through some crappy times to appreciate the good ones. [/lame]
I'm sorry about some of the bad stuff and can totally relate on the fishhooks. Just be glad that something IS being done about it.
Best of luck with everything and try to make one of the local kilt nights if you can. (One of these days I'm going to show up unexpectedly out there for one.)

A word on the smoking. Been there, done that, and it ain't easy. I quit in '63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, and finally totally quit sometime in '73, when I grabbed a cigarette, and a friend talked me out of it. Hand in there. The rewards are well worth it!

You still sound positive after all that, and that's good. I'm glad they caught the guy. Hang in there, monkeys ; we're all thinking about you.
