one thing, though: How is selling fudge and glazed nuts an "excuse" to wear a kilt?
Not really an excuse, but a better way for me to justify wearing the kilt as it's in a festival atmosphere. I know, I need to get over it and wear it every day. With this kind of favorable comment, I'll be more inclined to wear it for everyday use. Still somewhat self conscience about it.

I get it. And I understand. I hate that I'm self conscious when wearing the kilt. It's something i can easily get over when out on the town of a weekend. But during the day in a "normal" situation I feel...vulnerable.

Well, despite what some folks might say, you don't have to wear it every day, unless you want to. We don't want any "Kilt Tyrants" any more than we want "Trouser Tyrants."
Now, I think what you might have meant is you want to get the point where you can wear a kilt as everyday wear, meaning you can wear the kilt whenever you choose to.

The sincere comments like that are worth their weight in gold.
The fun and funny comments make it worth the effort as well.
Sunday in my unironed SK Boulder one lass replied "I like the casual, not-so-smooth look, gives me dirty thoughts..."
CT - don't tell Hamish I didn't iron my kilt
