Visit home to the Upper Peninsula

At the end of August and beginning of September Cassie and I took a trip back home to visit for the first time in a year. It was very nice to be back home! We both missed it, and two weeks wasn't nearly long enough to do everything we wanted and see everyone. But we had a great vacation. Here's a few pictures we took.

We went and had lunch and walked around Presque Isle in Marquette. This is one of the cliffs. I miss the Big Lake (Lake Superior), the smell of that freshwater breeze...

There was an ore boat in the harbor, loading.

Some more pictures of the trip.

Went to Cassie's parents and to Mackinac Island with them. It was Cassie's first time to the Island.

We stopped by the Yooper Tourist Trap, too. (Good store!)

I also got in some much needed forge time, and made a project I've been planning for a while. It's a box padlock like a couple from the 12th-13th centuries that were found in England.

Now that golf course looks like a fine challenge and I like Jim Decaire's sign.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Ah... the Yupe.
Been a while, since I've been back there.
Much of my family is still up there, spread around Mac, and Marquette.

The pictures brought back warm fuzzies... Thanks for posting them!

Wonderful scenery, the shot of you on the Black Rocks reminds me of Ron's old avatar, thanks for posting them. Oh and nice work on the locks, it looks like you had a great trip back.

Thanks for the photos Nick. They bring back many happy memories of summers spent in the UP.

My friend got pulled over by the cops in the UP once...we didn't know it was a "helmet" state and he was riding without one. The other 2 of us waited about a mile down the road!

Nice pics. Great scenery. Those ore boats are impressive, aren't they.

I am glad I could see you in pictures, as we just didn't make it to see each. I hope the rest of your time goes fast and you learn all you can!
