I have a couple of sweaters from Clan Arans, their less expensive, generic ones instead of the clan-specific ones... but the point is, both of them have snagged and pulled incredibly easily. You have to be careful wearing them.

Snagging that type of sweater seems to be a pretty common problem.
Several days ago, I was just telling my kids this story:
Back in high school, those "Irish" sweaters were trendy for a while and I, being trendy, got one and smugly wore it to school. One day, I was walking up the staircase during a class change...I passed another student and a notoriously sharp spot on his class ring caught a thread on my sweater. By the time we realized it, he was at the bottom of the stairs and I was at the top with one long white thread stringing out between us. All you could do was laugh
If it's a worry, opt for a type of sweater with a tighter weave. I note that LL Bean has a cable knit sweater that has that Aran sweater look (sort of) but would be a bit tighter. The commando sweater that I got from Bean is a frickin' tank so if the rest of their stuff is anything like that then it ought to be pretty tight.
Best
