Done...
Well I finished, however I am not happy with the pleats. I talked it over with sirdaniel1975 and we both think that Hancock mislabeled the fabric. I have had no trouble with the PV fabric's I have gotten from JoAnns but this stuff from Hancock will NOT hold a pleat. I pessed it till I could press no more today an I hope they will hold. These pic's are form Tue. when I took it for a test drive. Also pictured are my hose tops I did and my Trad. tie/flashes I have been making.

I wish this had tured out better as I love the colors. Oh well....I think the next two are going to be a Royal Stewart and a large set Blackwatch. Then on to the first wool DIY. By the way my wife aka Scottishmommy is almost done with her first DIY handstiched box pleat...pics soon.

I have that same fabric from Hancock. It was labeled 100% cotton flannel, not PV, at the store where I got mine. I bought it anyway because I liked the color, but maybe I won't waste my time on a kilt with it now. It will make a nice vest, I'm sure.

The Hancock's here had it marked as a PV the same blend as the ones I got from JoAnns. I pressed and steamed the pleats last night and plan to again today before I go to work with it on. I will post tonight to give an update. And yes the color is what sold me, I love it and I hope the pressing today holds tight. Cross yor fingers, and send some positive kilt mojo my way. Thanks all.

Two pressing tricks. Both are based on the idea that the fabric really takes a set when it is heated, then COOLED in the desired position:
1. If you have two irons (or have an ingot of lead or other metal you can handle -- get creative here!), use the heated iron to press an area. Then place the unheated iron, or ingot, or what's called a "sad iron" (Google it) on the area to pull some of the heat out quickly. Keep moving along, hot pressing then cooling each area in turn.
2. If you can spare the area, shortly after pressing (while fabric is still warm), cover it with a protective cloth, piece of posterboard, whatever. Then weight it down with books, bricks, what-have-you and leave it overnight. Be careful that you aren't pressing in unwanted wrinkles! This works best while pleats are still basted, but if you're careful you can still lay out the flat part of pleated area (below the fell) and weight it down smoothly.
Again, both ideas allow the fabric to cool while being pressed into the pleated position. Hairdressers use the same concept to "set" curls in hair. It probably has more effect on hair, wool, and other natural fibers, but your mystery fabric can't help but be impressed by the effort as well ![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
And, oh yes, great colors!

Love the color and hopefully you can get the pleats to cooperate with you. You did a nice job on it. I really like the traditional hose ties as well.

I have that same fabric from Hancock. It was labeled 100% cotton flannel, not PV, at the store where I got mine.
I'm sorry—I'm mistaken. After sorting out this fabric that I've got lying around, I realize that I confused this piece with another piece that I know is all cotton. I'm pretty sure this was labeled PV.
So have you had better results after later pressing? Maybe some sizing spray would help.

Sorry for the time between posts, we just changed our net provider.
With some heavy pressing and steam the pleats are now holding. Also I hope to am going to stitch the aprons for the wife kilted skirt tonight. She hand sewed the pleats and is very proud as I. Will post pics soon. If the FL rain stops.
