    Thumbs up

    Hi there,

Just joined the form today and saw your post. A few years back I met a lady at the Scottish Games in Woodland, CA. At the time she was spinning wool and I found that interesting so we struck up a conversation. She told me that she was spinning the wool so that she could make a gent some hose. We talked for a while and I decided that I wanted a set as well. She took a bunch of measurements and that was it. About 2 months later we met again at another games and she showed me what she had completed. Two months later we met again and this time the hose were completed. Needles to say I was very happy with them. I don't wear them very often bbecause they have a tendancy to get a wee warm...lol I haven't seen hers since that day. There have been many people that have seen my hose and want a pair.

    Good luck

Wow, that's great! It's impressive how much work goes into just one item. I saw a pretty sweater once, but it cost over $300. I told the woman selling it how nice it was, but costly. She'd spun the wool, dyed it, then knitted the (beautiful) Aran sweater. She said at the $325 price tag she'd be paid about $.25 an hour for her labor. That was a eye opener!
I used to spin, but I haven't in a while. I just got my last remaining geriatric sheep sheared, so maybe I can experiment with her fleece. Hmmmmmmm...
