Easy to keep the camera dry Highlander31 - its a flatwater float trip in Glen Canyon. The rapids don't start until down river from Lees Ferry in Marble Canyon, then the Grand Canyon.
I was concerned but I talked to my AA friend Frank who piloted one of our rafts. He's been on the river over 8 years. Said he's never seen, or heard of, anyone losing their camera. Biggest water danger would have been from rain so did take a plastic bag along just in case, but it was a beautiful day.
Here's a lucky shot of a perigrine falcon that came shooting past us. Not a perfect shot, but sort of lucky skeet shooting to get the pic at all.

If there are birders out there that think this is something else, the ID came from the river guide with years of experience in the canyon...to me, it was just one very very fast bird.
