Nice looking dog. I would go with Brittany or other Spaniel/Setter mix.
I hope you have some good long years ahead of you.

I agree, looks like some spaniel in there. Congrats on the new family member! I remember my first dog "of my very own" back in college. She was an Aussie, named "Ozzie" (I know, not very original, but she came with the name). I had to give her up when I went away to veterinary school (how ironic, huh?), but she went to a fellow vet assistant and lived to a ripe-old, happy age with her.
Be well,

I'm sorry that I'm late getting to this; my internet has been on the fritz due to two adolescent rabbits chewing the cord!!!
Given my name, bet you can guess where I lean! Love Kenzie! She is a cutie, and I am sure you will get your love back 100 fold! Just some gratuitous doggie propoganda, here ya go...

Kenzie has just been awesome, opening up in leaps and bounds! I've been taking her to the off-leash dog park for the past three weeks now, and she's finally discovered how much fun it is to run and play with the other dogs! There are a couple people with purebred Brittany's that come to the park, and I'm 99% sure she's half Brittany! Although she does still have some very Aussie Cattle Dog traits, like barking at every dog that she plays with and poking them with her nose while they're running. But it seems the Brittany in her has tempered that Red Heeler hyperactivity, and she loves just sitting on the couch and watching TV with me ("The Late Show With Craig Ferguson", of course!)
BTW, Birddog, if you're ever going to be in the Lakewood/Denver area with your dogs, let me know and we can hit up the off-leash!

Umm...better check with the cat first. I'm SURE that is the cat bed!
