ID this tartan
My wife got a piece of tartan and I cannot ID it. It has red and white lines in it , parallel to each other in squares and in the square are colours of green, black and brown....very good looking tartan. There used to be a site where all tartans were shown and you could go through each frame. All I could find on sites lately are clicking on alpha letters, which I don't want to do if I can't ID the tartan in the first place. (Sort of like the old adage, how can I look up a word in dictionary if I don't know how to spell it!!) Thanks for any help. Malcolm (I'd send in a photo, but I'm non-tech and my kids aren't home to do it for me!!.....remember, I'm the 18th century reenactor and I"m better with sword and dirk than digital stuff!!)

Both the Tartan Finder (on Scotweb) and the Tartan Ferret (on Scottish Tartans Authority) enable you to search for tartans based on colors in the pattern. You just select as many colors as you want, and they kick out a list of tartans that include those colors. You don't need to know the schematic.

You might try the scottish weavers for some of the most popular in photos.

The quickest way to find it would probably be to post a picture here.
