Three days! You chaps must be joking! August this year has been the most dank, dismal, dire, dreadful month that I can ever remember!Mind you, going on your theory, I would not have to look at those awful ghillie things this year,so perhaps it was not all bad.

I wonder if there is a special kind of shoe tree that has to be used with ghillie brogues...

I also wonder if there are a bunch of special care techniques-other than regular shoe care-that have to be used with them...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

A regular shoe tree works just fine. The heel and toe are "normal" after all, and the tree doesn't really go under the tongue so much.

Care? I, err, polish mine? Have them resoled when they wear out?

Oh, that sounds like any other shoes...

I just seem to remember someone complaining that there were too many things that had to be done to take care of them, and that was why they would never get them.

Not too sure what that person was complaining about...

I too am puzzles about what he was what he was talking about.

Any leather shoe requires some care. The super cheap ones cannot be resoled. I had a 2 prs of hand-made Mexican ones (Navy style dress) that I wore alternately for almost 25 years, until the uppers finally gave out. I don't remember how many times I had them re-soled and re-heeled. I gave them a weekly cleaning with saddle-soap, then polished them for Sunday, and always put shoe trees into them each night.

Maybe he was complaining about all the piercings and gimping, and would have the same complaint about regular Wing Tips.

The people wearing them are locals and many have lived in the area for all their lives----not incommers ---so they know a thing or two about wearing the kilt.It is a growing trend I fear.
Why a fear though? Is this something you don't want to see? Why?

September has been very hot and sunny, except for that one day we had a hurricane come to call.

Since many band members will be marching in them, I would encourage them to protect their feet. That is to say, Vibram soles are a good thing!
