    Kilts for Columbus

So at the end of last week as I was looking forward to the Colorado Kilt night that we had on Saturday I said to myself "self you have not worn the kilt to work in a while, you should wear it for Columbus day "

So today I went to work kilted for the first time in several months which raises the question, in light of the "Kilted for Halloween" thread, how many others of the "occasional" kilt wearers went kilted today? I know that the "kilted for xx years or xx months crowd were all kilted but I am wondering if anyone else did the out of the norm thing.

The "question" of the day was [and got it several times ] was "why the kilt on Columbus day?" To which I replied "In honor of men who boldly go where others fear to tread." ith:ith:

Don't look at me, I didn't wear a kilt today.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

It was Columbus Day? I seemed to have forgotten the oh-so (deservingly) forgettable holiday.

Poor ol' Chris' ..... I know its politically-correct to cast stones at Columbus these days, but just think, without the courage of the early explorers to sail off into the unknown, those of us of European-ethnic background might not be living in the "land of the free" today.

Oh, I wasn't kilted today, I am home sick.

    Greg,

Stop for a moment and think about this comment. Imagine if someone made this statement about one of the holidays associated with the Irish or Scots, and how you would feel. I know you march in parades with a local fire department, a profession long associated with the Irish community here in the USA. Remember, Columbus Day is a holiday for the Italian immigrant community to celebrate their successes in the New World.

It's respect, my young friend -- if we are going to demand that the general public respect us for kilt-wearing, then we should extend the same respect to other groups celebrating their heritage.

    Todd

I was on motorcycle for all my rounds and stops, so no kilt during working hours. However, once i got home and sat to do charting and "paperwork" (all electronic now) I was kilted until I hit the sack.
