I personally would never allow dry cleaning fluid to touch my wool kilts. I don't want the natural oils washed out that make wool what it is--water proof.

I've washed wool a lot, and it always comes out fine as long as you use cold water and don't put any heat on it. And don't dry it in the sun. And don't use any goofy stuff to wash it.
