I am interested since I recently got some nice 11 oz. tartan but am reluctant to have a kilt made of it, since some say only the heavier weights are worth it.

Actually, those two weights of fabric do crease rather easily and so I have to be particularly careful when 'sweeping', but they are regular suiting materials and unwanted creases do drop out of the grey pinstripe kilt - in time! The newer navy with white pinstripe suit is definitely vulnerable though, but I like it so much I am prepared to take more trouble with its care.
I have to agree with everyone who likes the latest country tweed suit - it is definitely my favourite, but then it is more suited to daily wear than the more formal pinstripes.
