Ok so if you are tucking the kilt under to make it work how do you deal with retucking it when you need to stand to get more power for uphill climbs or acceleration?

I use my cycle in town most days and have never had the slightest problem with the kilt. It neither flies up (air pressure keeps it down, in fact), nor gets caught in the spokes (high saddle).
As for tucking the front ... what a quaint idea! Sounds most uncomfortable. Better be bifurcated if you want cloth between your legs.
The thread may be some years old, but did we ever discover whether the boy actually got to ride his cycle in a kilt or not?
