    Another name for Ruche...

Just an interesting thing that I found out while getting my act together for a formal event a week ago.

Remembering how nice Brewboy looked wearing a red Ruche tie with his formal attire, I thought that I'd cast about for a black one. Searching the internet for "Ruche Tie" bought up nothing but vendors overseas. Time was getting short so I figgered that it wouldn't work with the shipping time involved. A very random part of the search revealed that US tuxedo joints don't refer to it as a Ruche tie but rather as a Shar-Pei tie...yeah, that's right...like the wrinkly dog...Shar-Pei. Looks like I could have gotten one locally had I known the correct nomenclature. Live and learn.

Live and learn, is right! I'm still wondering whether the ruche is like or unlike a "cravat" --- on either side of the Atlantic!

Well that's good to know. I don't wear ties very often at all but I do like the look of those.
    Thanks AA

    Shar-Pei...interesting.

The only other name I've heard them called is scrunchie ties, and that was in a kilt shop in Stirling.

I wear one with my Prince Charlie and have recvd nothing but compliments.
