Thanks for the great review. I'm so glad you are enjoying them, and I do have to say they look splendid with your outfit!
If you don't mind me clarifying some terms, just so people are not confused. Then pattern you describe on the leg of the sock is actually ribbing, not cabling. The pattern on the cuff of the sock that you describe in some detail is cabling.
The ridge you describe at the point where the cuff turns down, I would assume to be the join. The sock base and the cabled cuff are knit as two seperate peices and then joined together, so I would guess that is what you are noticing there.
You look sharp -- wear them in good health!
