For that matter, have you made arrangements for what's to happen to them in the sad eventuality that you're no longer available to wear them and care for them?
You are not too far out actually. The total currently stands at 92 and, including the 'Lady Chrystel', I have three on order (the other two being a Galloway Green or Galloway Hunting from Geoffrey (Tailor), and a Manx Hunting from the Isle of Man). Additionally, a member of X Marks is very kindly making me another in his family tartan. So, very soon the Kollection will contain 96 kilts in many diverse and varied tartans, fabrics and other materials. One of our leading and most respected kiltmakers has very kindly offered to make No.100 when the time is nigh, but I've not yet decided on the tartan. However, it has been suggested by several others that I should have my own tartan designed for the occasion (I'm sensing a commercial interest here!), but I have not yet had time to give that any thought!

Archival notes? Yes (for my own information) I keep an inventory which includes details of the tartan/fabric/material, the kiltmaker, date of delivery and cost. I also keep separate CDs of images for each kilt and whenever new photos become available they are added to the appropriate disc.

Yes, legal arrangements have been made for the entire Kollection, including all associated garments and accessories, to form the basis of a new museum collection to be established in Scotland after my demise (or sooner if I so wish). This will be administered by the Scottish Tourist Authority, 'Visit Scotland'. I can say no more at the moment, but I have insisted that the Kollection will NOT be broken up.

    Take care,
    Ham.

Thanks to everyone for your interest. Rest assured that photos will be posted just as soon as the new kilt arrives from France!

Trefor, Brian and Sydnie - for this first double box-pleated kilt I have selected one of the PV tartans shown on Lady Chrystel's website. It is this one:

Those beige and blue colours are so attractive to my eye, and I cannot wait to begin searching for co-ordinating hose, shirts, etc., etc!

That's pretty fantastic. I'm sure the archival notes you mention will be of great use to future scholars, and how many people can claim that they inspired the foundation of an entire museum? Good on ya for your foresight!
