When the police searched him and found his pocket knife they added a concealed weapon charge to the disorderly conduct charge. That little extra got him suspended without pay from his employment.
He got it all sorted out eventually after some considerable time and expense.
I’m not saying anything about the right or wrong of it, I’m just saying that you have to think twice (or thrice) these days.
An excellent point.

I do use mine in private celebrations. In poblic the police would arrest me for wearing one as it is considered a dangerous weapon over here. I feel something is missing, but it's something you get used to.

A small pocket torch (i.e. a flashlight) is also a nice thing to have at hand (A friend gave me a very nice one only 3 inches long), a pen, a small pad of paper, a small book .

And of course, a man servant to carry them for you so they don't spoil the cut of your jacket by being thrust into a pocket.

I should think a proper fitting jacket with enough pockets should be able to hold all these necessities (and a few other odds and end).
Did I forget to mention a flask?

I have recently come to possess a pen that contains a laser pointer and an LED torch in the other end. A friend was informed by the TSA that it should not be checked in his luggage, then they brought it and let him carry it on board?? I got one of them from him because after checking his bags, he realized he was still carrying his folding knife, and as I had no checked baggage, I sent it through for him. Interestingly, he had an extra "torch disguised as a pen" to give to me because said TSA found only one of the three he had put in his baggage. I guess I better add it to my sporran.

Sgian don'ts
I was thinking then of maybe carrying a "toffee hammer" in the hose?
That way I could carry some MacIntosh Toffee in sporran and be able to break it up with the "wee hammer".
It is too tiny to be considered a weapon.
Also it would be a good reminder of Bo Giertz's book "The Hammer of God" a must read for every seminarian.
