    Motorhead!

    Hey Guys,

I have a pretty eclectic taste in music ranging from Dropkick Murphys to traditional Irish music to Ska music, to punk to straight up rock and roll.

One of my favorite bands, simply b/c of the energy this guy has at age 62 is Motorhead (a pioneer heavy metal band).

I was informed today by a customer (and I BELIEVE Xmarks member) that there is going to be a Lemmy Movie (the singer of motorhead). If you're a motorhead fan, check this out:

I will contend that Lemmy is the missing link between glam rock and heavy metal.
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!

very sorry for the long post

i was first introduced to motorhead in the mid 80s through their appreance on the brilliant but short lived british comedy the young ones which aired here in the u.s. on mtv.

i've seen the band twice now and both shows were phenomenal. the first time was in 1994 and comedy central rented a small room somewhere in lower manhattan (on bleeker street, i think) to promote the channel's addition of the young ones to their programming lineup. since motorhead appeared on the legendary episode known as bambi (where the boys represent scumbag university on university challenge), the band were on hand to play a short set of perhaps three songs. every episode was shown on a full movie screen at the front of the room to the mixed boredom and curiosity of about 200 execs, advertisers and journalists, most of whom were looking for their next free drink. at the conclusion of the final episode ("look out! clifffffff!"), the screen was raised to reveal motorhead on stage, blistering into a full scale 90 minute set backed by their full entourage of marshall amp stacks. awesome.

the second time was march 9, 2005 as a birthday gift from my brother who joined me (and who was also witness to the comedy central party) at the excellent starland ballroom in sayreville, nj. it was the opening date of the band's 30th anniversary tour and nothing was left in question as they played virtually every classic song, a handful of the best tunes from the previous year's inferno album and a couple of quality covers, to boot. as my brother remarked, a spinal tap quality was added to the performance as drummer mikkey dee lept from behind his kit in between every other song to vomit behind the stacks of amplifiers; lemmy revealed later in the show that despite a vicious stomach virus, dee refused to cancel the show. it was first class, all the way, and probably one of my five favorite shows of all time. it's amazing that three guys can churn out that deafening wall of sound. below is a photo from that night.

MOTORHEAD: everything louder than everything else...
