No, sorry. I will be downtown and I will be in total dressed-up kilted mode but I'll be partying on the eve of my birthday with some friends. Ought to be funny to have a whole bunch of kilties running around the Loop, though.

As we say in Wisconsin: Uff-da! That's an expensive meal! I think I'll pass.

I thought that Uf-Da was Minnesotian...? I assume that the cost of the venue and that they hope to show a wee bit o' profit for the Scottish Home have something to do with the price. Hey...the entrees at The Duke are all about ten bucks and the pints are five-and-a-half...

Uff-da is Swedish, thus appropriate both in Minnesota and Wisconsin. I am a member of the St. Andrew's Society, but not much for formal affairs, so I'm not planning on going.

However, I think we should have a kilted get together somewhere near St. Andrew's Day.

Uff da is most definitely Norwegian, and God help you if any Norskis find out you made that mistake.
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!

I don't know - I went attended the seminary of a predominately Swedish denomination and it was commonly used. Maybe they let a few Norwegians sneak in.
