The PC posture might be effectual in rather blustery or inclimate weather. But, probably not for longer than it takes to get the sporran or other guard handily positioned.
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

MODIFIED PC ( knees about 5" apart.) Normal sitting position.

I normally sit more toward the Connery, maybe not quite that wide, but definitely not PC. And knees closed if legs out and ankles crossed, just more comfortable for me.

I, too, sit more like Connery than Charles though not quite as far apart. Just far enough for the sporran to drop down and take the apron with it for modesty.

connery, but also sometimes with legs crossed either narrow (knee over knee like a lady) or wide (ankle over knee like a man). either way the sporran and aprons are forcibly pushed down to maintain decorum.

Usually like Connery but occassionally with leg over knee. Never like PC. Usually a well placed tuck and push the sporran down does the trick and satisfies my wife I wont be flashing the place. She is very possesive about who gets to see my junk. I have learned that some chairs work and some, (low deep comfy ones like the ones in the libary of my club) can be cause for concern - others - not mine - I dont much care who has a look but, as I said, my wife ....
