Hey, don't get my wrong, Buchanan is FINE by me, but the girl DOES have a point that 9 men in Buchanan kilts MIGHT take some of the focus off of her in the wedding pictures. And we can't have that.

I DID manage to convince her that a PC and waistcoat were every bit as snazzy looking as a tux and cumberbund, though, so we're certainly making progress!

Personally I'm not enamored by any of the dress tartans. But i can understand the attitude to the Buchanan also, Too many in one place would blind the guests if nothing else. there is a very nice Buchanan Hunting though (not my pic, just something from the web):

I'm thinking this will be my next kilt.

There's nothing wrong with the Dress variations of tartans. Some of the oldest tartans around are dress versions. Christina Young for one and Dress Stewart being a fairly older recent version. And, dress versions are very good tartans for dancers giving the kilt the center of attention during the dance and giving the dancer a visibility to the audience on a dark stage. Some dress versions make handsome white tie attire. Mind you, I think all the new turquoise and raspberry colours are going way too Irish Dance on us.

If you want to see a Dress Blue Buchanan made up in an actual kilt, head over to the Highland dance boards on www.dance.net and post a request. The dancers are always proud to show off their tartans. (sorry, a search on the forum only found a couple of broken links)

Go ahead and outfit yourself and your men in Buchanan, but rig one of the bridesmaid's dresses to burst into flames during the ceremony. That way the contrast will be less alarming.

An old For Sale thread just popped back up on the general Highland Dance board and lo and behold in the background of the for sale pic is a dancer in Dress Blue Buchanan. Not the best pic in the world, but the only one I've seen for a while.

Better check it out quick as old For Sale threads get deleted if the original poster hasn't answered questions in a while as is the case with this pic.

Take a good look, too, at Buchanan weathered (Lochcarron Strome ) or perhaps the House of Edgar muted colors in (13 oz).

Sorry all. My link provided above is now broken. dance.net or DDN as we call it, tries to keep their site clean by deleting old For Sale threads if it appears the original poster has abandoned it. I'll keep my eyes open for more pics tho.
