Cincinnati Magazine's "Best of the City"
I spent the day grooming one of my Welsh terrier puppies (at six years old, she's not much of a puppy anymore). When I returned her to her people this evening, they alerted me to this notice in the current edition of Cincinnati Magazine:
"Whatever clan tartan you want to sport for your special occasion, a rental from Celtic Corner will outfit you in proper Highlands style. Choose from Black Watch, Black Stewart, Campbell, Hunting MacGregor, and four other patterns, then rent the entire kit, from ghillie brogues (shoes) to kilt hose (socks) to sporran (um, man purse). If you'd rather wear a kilt of your own, Lenora Gilmour can make one to your measure from authentic tartans. What you wear under your kilt, well, that's up to you. >> 502 Old State Route 74, Mt. Carmel, (513) 528-5578"
Celtic Corner has been mentioned in these forums a few times before. Earlier this summer, I tried three times to visit their store on the east side of Cincinnati, but each time found them closed when I would have expected them to be open according to their website. I finally met Lenora at a recent Cincinnati Celtic festival. She did not have any examples of her work on hand to view (she said they were all at the larger Columbus, Indiana, festival), but I will make it back out to her shop another day, I suppose. She inspected the Tewksbury kilt I was wearing that day and pronounced it a "nice job." I have resolved to have her make me a kilt some day to see what she can do.
At any rate, it's nice to see the wearing of the kilt to get prominent mention in this popular edition of this local interest monthly.
Regards,
Rex.

Not all that pleased with the cartoon rendering, I must say.

That's where my favorite kilt came from, where I learned the basics of bagpiping, and a wee bit of highland dance. The Reids are a great family, check out their shop. They even have a website. www.celticcornerstore.com. Lenora made the kilt that's in my avatar, the only MacGregor Modern that I have.

In other words I can have whatever tartan I want, as long as I want one of these eight

Nice that the kilts made the cover. Did she ever say where/how she learned her craft?

To quote Mr. Henry Ford - "Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black." At least it keeps kilt rentals reasonably priced.
