Tartanic
I was at the Arizona Renaissance Festival and Mall on Sunday with my mother. Saw a fair number of kilties, and as we were winding towards the exit, saw a kilted lad on a stage with a bagpipe... so we wandered over to hear, and discovered the joy which is Tartanic. These lads (two bagpipers and three drummers, in the configuration I saw them in) play the great highland bagpipes at breakneck (break-finger?) pace, and have a tremendous sense of humor... and I see they've got a Saint Patrick's Day gig coming up, so if you're going to be in the Phoenix area that night, see if you can catch 'em!

They are fantastic, They were here in St. Louis a few years ago for our Ren Faire and the wife and I just could not pull ourselves away from listening to them.

I am a fan of Tartanic. I have heard them a number of times at Texas Ren Faire. Excellent musicians and as you say a great sense of humor.

One of their albums (which I picked up at the faire) is a recording of a live performance they did, and it really gives the flavor of one of their shows. Of course, it hasn't the Scottish lap dance they did at the faire, but you can imagine that for yourself.

Very good group, I saw them with the 2 pipers and 2 dummers at the RenFest last year? Good to know they are still playing, look forward to hearing them again if/when I get to the Faire.

I caught them at the St. Andrew Society games in Detroit last summer. Great music and great showmen.

I see from their site that Tartanic members will be going their own ways after they visit the Arizona Renaissance Festival in early 09. What a shame! I have enjoyed them many a time.

Wow you got me worked up there for a second! Aggie, I think that was the wrong website, some info from the last time they broke up in 2007! The band have had a lot of ups and downs like that. Here's the site new(est) version of Tartanic;

And I thought that this thread was going to be about a movie remake about a ship striking an iceberg with Leonardo DiCaprio in a kilt!
