Man, the terrible spelling, grammar, and complete lack of punctuation made this letter almost unreadable! Is the author a third grader? My son hasn't written this poorly in years. If it's a child who wrote this, then you're in luck- children are easier to educate than adults. Good luck with this person. (Oops... I just reread the post... It's your mom! The American education system strikes again... This letter being from a grown adult shows some serious issues in itself! It's like a third grade child, with the social anxiety of a high school cheerleader. It sounds to me like someone has growing up to do.)

My sister-in-law works for the local 911 dispatch, and makes more than my teacher wife and many of the local cops, and she hasn't been there a year yet. (with an associates degree)

I did manage to decode part as telling me it's ok to wear a kilt in Dayton or Cincinnati, but not where it can harm my family. Perhaps there is a demon or something that hides near the border that rips kilts off and uses them to towel whip people, but I haven't seen that demon yet.

That is how she writes, almost all the time. She used to be a better person, but she is turning into her mom, who lives with her, and has become an issue. Her mom kept telling her not to open a second restaurant, always for dumb reasons, and she listens. It's also bad that I installed Firefox on her computer, so I know it has auto spell check on misspelled words, it highlights them, but she still can't figure it out. I think she's within a year or so of being 50. (I know my grandma just turned 80).

Wow, the whole situation sucks, doesn't it? What a mountain made out of a mole-hill. My condolences, mo chara. The only advice I can offer is to step back slowly and away. Maybe some time apart will settle things.

Living in Michigan didn't help any, though I miss Ann Arbor.

I had not read this thread since it was started, checked in today and wow did it catch fire. There was lots of advice about burying the hatchet and where or whom to bury it in. I see from most of the advice, we are an indepentant and open minded group, prone to our own opinions. Good for us, I say. It kind of makes you wonder about those family members who never attended the family reunions, perhaps they would have been kindred souls, that we share feelings with. Perhaps that is why they never attended. Celtic Cowboy, well played and well done, Sir. You have a fine family and would be welcome at our table anytime. Your son is just too cute in his kilt. I am glad to see that you made your choice and stuck to it. I think that your family would do well to learn some lessons from you. I do not think that those of you who work as Police and EMT's are paid enough, in money or respect. Thank you for all you do and will do. Good Luck with all of your endeavours.
Sathor, I am not sure what to say, I have tried several times to read the letter that your Mom sent. I am sorry to say, I can not make heads or tails of it. As I grew up in Southern Ohio, I can somewhat see what she is talking about regarding the people of the area. " I grew up with some real redneck folks, I can say that "cuz i are one"! I still have family in that area. I wish that I had some sage advice to give, but I don't. Other than stay strong and be yourself. Good Luck. Although I do think that the advice to back away slowly is good advice.

That's a good way to say what I was thinking. I'm not very good at diplomacy.
