Many years ago as a shift supervisor at a major soybean prosessing plant in Des Moines, I had to call in someone to split a shift when one of our operators called in. His excuse to not come in 4 hrs early was that it would interupt his rythmatic sleeping.

Back in 1992 I called in due to a hurricane. I was visiting a friend who lived in Homestead Florida. Well, hurricane Andrew was inbound and we decided to stay and have a hurricane party. I figured that missing a days work wouldn't be a big deal. After the storm it was nearly two weeks before could leave and come back to Ga.
