I've always liked the tartan. It's an asymmetric one, I think, but as it doesn't appear to be a twill weave it would be simple enough to rip, flip, and join the double-wide cloth. I'd be interested to hear anyone's experience with how well that type of weave holds the pleats.

Just spent three rainy hours in Atlanta watching the DVD. That tartan is on my list (which seems to grow and grow). Love the understated colors. Gotta have!! Congrats!

Trefor, what do you think of the feel, heft, swing etc. of the material compared to twill weave fabric in your other kilts?

I must say that it does look smashing...the hose and hose tops really make the total look. An excellent choice!

Congratulations on acquiring a fabulous kilt, Trefor.
I think you bought these hose from Chuck Whillans' wool shop in the old Teviotdale Mill at Hawick, may have been a local product either of Short Brothers of Hawick or of House of Cheviot (Hawick Sock Company).

Trefor, that looks really, really GOOD!
I was never a huge fan of that tartan, but it works so well for you in general. The hose and even the baffies look great with it!!!
Congratulations on that win!

It compares very favourably indeed.
It hasn't had a public outing yet but will this weekend!
