Enjoy the early gift of a kilt! I've been sitting around staring at the box under the tree, just waiting to open my new kilt.

OK, I forgot about the details. SWK Blackwatch thrifties for us. We're gonna dress them up a bit, but the boys want to wear them all the time so we figured we'd get them the thrifties 'cause them boys ain't easy on clothes.
We're working on the 17 year old though. He's told us he doesn't want to be one of the crowd but looks just like the crowd. My argument goes that if he wears the kilt not only will he NOT be one of the masses he may start a new trend at school. I see a chink in the armor and will press the attack until he yields.
Once we get pictures they'll be up.

Congratulations on your early Christmas presents. Sounds like a very nice wife (and mother) to do this for you all. Hope your eldest joins you, but he is at a tough age for not wanting to stand out too much from the rest of the crowd. Don't forget we need photgraphic proof here.

    Randal,
I wore the kilt as a teenager. Advise him from experience, the kilt is a CHICK MAGNET. Done up right, they will be asking him out. At seventeen, I had the rest of my classmates very jealous of my following.

My 17 year old thinks my wearing of the Kilt is the un-coolest thing ever to happen; his exact reaction to seeing me kilted at MY birthday dinner was "Oh god he's got his Kilt!" Course it didn't help that I was stopped by a hottie at the door wanting to take my picture, he really hates that! Were he to don the kilt, I'd be a grandfather faster than you could say jack-rabbit! I count my blessings where I can.

A lucky man and sons, and a thoughtful lady for a wife indeed. I just got my new Irish kilt (County Monaghan) in the mail yesterday from Wolfstone Kilts. I'll be wearing it to work next week.
A merry Christmas to you and your family.

    Regards,

    Brian

I have a similar problem with my twenty year old son who not only thinks that I'm mashugana for wearing the kilt but has also gone on his Facebook page and done a couple of rants about what a doofus his old man is for doint the kilt thing. I will be getting my own Facebook page and going on about every dumbass thing that he did growing up...do you think that he'll "friend" me?

BUT...there is a young fella at my daughter's high school who wears the kilt and is held in absolute awe by all who behold him. I met his parents at a school function and the story is that they went to Scotland and the kid was SO impressed that he demanded that they get him a kilt while they were there...I think that they got a family tartan (Dad's of Scottish extraction and mom's Jewish...so this kid really does have some serious stones to get into the kilt, eh?). Anyway...if anybody gives him any guff, he just toughs it out and that has enhanced his reputation as a totally cool individual. I often go to school functions in full kilted regalia but haven't run into the young fella yet. My daughter often wears one of her kilts to school as well...in her own rather "punk" style...but she does wear tartan rather than a simple black one, so she's got that goin' for her.

C'Mon, young man! Push the outside of the high school fashion envelope! Celebrate the heritage!

Glad that the young 'un is getting into the spirit, though!

    Best

PM me his facebook addy and i'll rant back at him, I've already got a page.

Tell him how the ladies react to them and you might convert him......
