    Lord of the Dance

For an early Christmas present for the two of us, Mrs. Rob and I attended The Lord of The Dance. Wonderful dancing and singing and of course, my favorite, fiddling(with violins!!!) Out of about 1000 folks I was the only one kilted...Blue Ramsay kilt, matching flashes, navy hose, and because of the snow and cold, black wooly pully and black crail jacket. Lots of comments and a great time. I fully recommend the performance.

    Merry Christmas

    Rob

I saw this show first time around with Michael Flatley it's creator in the lead. It came off of the success of Riverdance. Glad you enjoyed it.

    May I hijack this thread?

I was talking about Riverdance with friends just the other day and claimed that, whatever qualities the show may have had, it unfortunately signed the death warrant of the Irish kilt -- since Flatley put his dancers in leg-tubes.

Did anyone here see the original offering that started it all off? ie: the Irish dance group that was seen on the Eurovision song contest several years ago? Were the men in trousers even then?

All the step dancing I had seen previously had been performed in kilts. Now, as far as I can tell, it is only young lassies (in wigs!) that show the intricacies of Irish step.

    Martin~
Flatley choreographed the Eurovision routine. I wasn't a kiltie when I saw it, but I don't recall the men in kilts.

    "Spirit of the Dance"

I'm glad you enjoyed the performance.

A couple of years ago I went to a show in Branson MO called Spirit of the Dance, which was a showcase of some of the numbers from the original shows.

The audience was small, probably less than 100, but afteward the dancers came into the lobby. I was the only one kilted there:

Several of the dancers came up and talked to me and this picture was taken with one of the lovely ladies.

Just goes to show the power of the kilt when older gentlemen have such an opportunity with the ladies. I had not been wearing kilts very long and my wife was standing very close most of the time. I got her to take this picture though.

I have videotapes of the Lord of the Dance, Feet of Flames and one more I think. Wonderful, spirited music.

Is it just me, or does Martin Grenoble bear a striking resemblance to Martin Landau?

He was an American actor. Can someone more board savvy post a picture of him?
