Aha! I was waiting to see if Arlen forgot his wife's birthday on XMarks. I'm so used to him being 5 hrs ahead in Glasgow that three hours behind me in Idaho is still a novelty. Guid oin ye Arlen!


I hope Diane has a good birthday and you two do something that you both enjoy. Hmmmmm. Shoveling snow in Idaho is er...not somthing that is included in the package. Perhaps a nice evening in the pubs and then a nice restaurant for dinner?

Too bad that Mr. Dove and I are on the wrong side of the continent. Mr. Dove could have a nice tango with Diane and (gawd I hate to even say it again) she and I could have a nice Shag.

That is ONE word that I just cannot equate with the meaning from across the pond. Here it is a GREAT dance. (er.......well.....I can't even let the BBC or Bill Bryson take THAT for a meaning.)

Take it to mean that I would love to go out drinking and dancing with you two.

Thanks for the warm wishes everybody! Jamie and Dee, I'd love a good dance, even a shag, though I've never done it before... *blushes*

We had a very nice time, though we had so much snow we had to cancel the party at my favorite little pizza and microbrew spot. I made some awesome Singaporean chili crab for lunch and we had amazing fudgy gluten-free birthday cake too. Got a gorgeous hand-made walking stick from Arlen... must post pics soon!

It's always nice to have someone mention my birthday, seeing as it comes at the time of year when my friends are out of town, school is out, and my family is preoccupied with Christmas. The fact that half of my family was born within 2 weeks of my birthday doesn't help either.

But, I'll save that rant for the shrinks, and just say that I actually had a nice quiet birthday consisting of taking a much needed break from the (admittedly fun) chaos that is my life, and used the opportunity to have long conversations with close friends who are far away.
