Important Announcement
To all the Ladies and Gentlemen of X Marks the Scot,
With both gratitude and some sadness the owner and Moderating staff announce that with the start of this New Year Freelander Sporrano, Cajunscot, and Colin will be retiring as members of the “Mod Squad”.
Rudyard Kipling wrote in his poem “If”
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
And held on they have.
These gentlemen have been part of the volunteer staff of xmarksthescot.com longer than most of us have been members. They have been fundamental in shaping the development of this forum and each has dedicated many hours and a lot of effort over the years to make this the premier kilt forum on the world wide web.
David, Todd, and Colin will still be part of our forum but it is their wish to participate and contribute as members from now on.
Hank, Nelson, Glen, Bradley, and myself understand and are grateful for the chance to work with, share, and laugh with these very fine gentlemen.
The current “Mod Squad” do have a list of some wonderful people here on our forum we are considering approaching to become new members of our little band. However, we all wanted to address this in the New Year and after we have had a chance to properly thank these three gentlemen for all their help over the years.
Very shortly their titles will change to reflect this.
The last official vote that Colin and David participated in was to decide if a member of this forum deserved the very rarely given "Honored Member" status.
The individual in question has always conducted himself as a gentleman and has been a valuable and reliable resource for History, Heraldry, and matters Burnsian here on X Marks the Scot.com.
It was the unanimous decision of almost the entire "Mod Squad" and the owner of this forum to designate our own cajunscot as an "Honored Member" and bestow on him the unique title "Kilted Historian".
We hope that all of you will join us in thanking for all three for all their good work and congratulating Todd on a well deserved recognition for his contributions as a member of XMTS.
Sincerely
Jamie, Hank, Nelson, Glen, and Bradley

Thank you Jamie, Hank, Nelson, Glen, and Bradley
It has been a real pleasure to work along side you all for this wonderful site. As some may know I was one of the first 10 people to sign up and take part in Xmarksthescot.com and I have enjoyed being a member of this site since day 1. I have always admired the way that the site was set up and run. So when Hank asked me if I would be interested in being a moderator in 2006 I was more than happy to sign up.
There have been many ups and downs, conflicts, disagreements, misconceptions, and martyrs in that time, but the ability to work with the exceptional members of Xmarks has been an incredible experience and far out weighted any negative. Xmarks has the best members on the web. The caliber of people and the knowledge and insight you all bring to the site is unparalleled. The members are what make this the biggest and best kilt site on the internet.
I am leaving a great group of guys to handle the moderating job. Jamie, Nelson, Bradley, Glen, and Hank are exception guys and do an amazing job with this site. Anyone that thinks any differently should really spend a week in their ghillies and see some of the stuff that comes to the moderators. It's a tough job finding a good balance and keeping 6607 members happy. I for one think they do it with respect and a very light touch. Keep up the great work guys and thanks for having me as part of your team.
I look forward to many more days as a member of this site. However after three years as a moderator I felt that it was in the best interest of myself, this site and the members here to step back and let a fresh set of eyes take over the duties of moderator. I don't envy Jamie, Nelson, Bradley, Glen, and Hank as they look for a replacement or two as they have so many fine choices.
Thanks again to the members of Xmarks and the staff of Xmarks for making these "moderating years" enjoyable ones.
See you on the forum.

Many Thanks David Todd and Colin. I'm coming up to my 5th anniversary this month on being an xmarks member. There has been a lot of evolution during that time and you folks have made it a positive experience.
Many thanks
Robert

Thank You, Sirs for your Outstanding Service!
I was stunned to read these Mods are retiring. As a member for 1½ years their insightful comments and firm, yet fair chastises has been part of my experience here, that is now to be missed.
Gentlemen, I thank you for your service!
Canjunscot you are indeed our Historian extraordinaire! I have always appreciated your quick rebuke to keep the historic statements correct. Congratulations!

Prop your feet up in front of the virtual fire, smoke a virtual cigar, and have a virtual wee dram or six on us!
Thanks to all the mods here for keeping the peace and the moderation moderate.

Thanks for your service on X Marks the Scot.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

I might be relatively new to this forum but I am grateful for both its existence and the persistence of the staff here who keep it running smoothly and are always there for assistance. Thank you!

There is no way for any of us to understand the hard work you all put in here to keep XMarks so seemingly tranquil and problem-free. So, let me add my voice to the many and simply say "thank you" for your tireless efforts on all our behalf.
Cheers to the Mods - past, present, and future!
