    New Year's Day Hike

Today the family and I decided to take a hike through a local park. According to the website it had some nice trails. So, I throw on my trusty SWK Weathered McKenzie, and my Thorfinn, and off we go.

I managed to find an interesting stick that I plan on trying my hand at making a walking stick (due to all of Carver's inspiration!)

Anyway, here are a couple views of the surroundings:

That's a great looking combination. Looks like a beautiful day for a hike and nice scenery.

I like the sweater. One like it is on my Jonesing list. Is it a ClanAran Sweater? If so, does it have a family name attached to it? My wife's been busy knitting sweaters lately, so I've got her looking for a pattern for something similar.

Now this is a look I love! So comfy, and so handsome. That sweater looks great! I'm hoping to get my husband something similar together someday, especially for hiking and being outdoors. Love the tartan with that sporran, too

And I hope I didn't miss it in the text (there was a lot of scrolling due to the wide photos, and I have a nasty cold so I'm out of it), but is that a mermaid kilt pin? It looks really heavy. How was it for hiking?

That's just all kinds of cool! The combination and the scenery.

Looks like it was a great way to ring in the new year!

Sure seems like a great way to start the new year. I was going to wear my Weathered MacKenzie but the temps out here called for a heavier kilt so I strapped on "The Beast" and took my dog Indy for a short hike.

I'm in complete agreement about getting outdoors to enjoy your brand new year. I took the family to go out walking along and on the beach and later enjoy the first sunset of 2009.

Kudos Capt. for starting the year off right.

    Cheers

It is an wool aran sweater, which according to the tags was made in Ireland. My wife bought it for me for Christmas. Very nice and cozy!

And yes, good eyes. That is a mermaid kilt pin. Picked it up on ebay. Not too heavy at all. I wore it to my recent kilt night and one of the waitresses went crazy over it. Apparently she has a thing about mermaids.

Thanks for all the kind comments. It was certainly a great way to start the year.
