Cannot say I agree with you about the traditional tie-garters though! I have several pairs (not from the STM, I hasten to add. They came with hose I bought over here in recent years). After numerous failed attempts at wearing them with a degree of comfort, I gave up, chopped off the ends that show and mounted them on the 1" wide elastic I use for all my home-made flashes. They are now both comfortable and serviceable. I dare say it is all down to one's calf development! Since I was obliged to give up both cycling and dancing, mine have almost faded away, and what with water collecting at the ankles ............. but I won't go on - I do not want to put you off your dinner!
