Wow, this thread just keeps on going....Great!

I'm now looking for a chruchwarden pipe. I've heard that they are much cooler smoking than a standard pipe due to the length of the stem. Not as common as a standard pipe or as convenient, but worth a shot.

    Happy smoking!

I have a Stanwell Hans Christian Andersen churchwarden with two stems, one long and one short. I very much recommend it, it smokes well in both lengths.

    New (old) Pipe Pic

Here is a pic of Turpin and Me at Fado Irish Pub in Atlanta.
I am enjoying a bit of my Grampa's Cavendish blend called 'Yorkshire'. (Only found at 'The Briary' Smoke Shop in Birmingham, AL)
The pipe is an inexpensive 'Churchwarden'. The long stem provides a cool smoke. The pipe is so efficient, I can smoke the entire bowl with one lite. (of course, I have been smoking over the past 12 years, may have learned a trick or two about packing the bowl =)

Now I'm thinking of getting a Churchwarden!!

Just today I was saying I needed to make a pipe rack and Diane said if I did I'd need to get more pipes!

Peterson makes a few different Churchwarden pipes, all fairly economically priced.
Nick's suggestion of the Stanwell sounds interesting as well; might have to check it out myself.

I'm currently smoking out of a Peterson Barrel. I'm working through a few different tobaks right now. I bought a few new ones over the recent break which I haven't tried yet, but one of my favorites thus far is Dunhill's "early morning."
Most tobacconists I've visited show a rather uninspiring selection comprised mostly of aromatics. As nice as they smell and all, they're generally much too sweet for my taste.

Somehow I'm not terribly surprised to find such a large number of pipe smokers amongst kilties....

I dreamed I was trying to smoke a churchwarden pipe last night - that is the name for the ones with a long stem, I think.

The tobacco was like chopped straw and it would not light, which was quite annoying as nothing else was happening at the time.

Not only does X marks fill my waking moments but now it infiltrates my sleep!!

It was a really pretty pipe though - with the colours and lines of a chestnut just out of the spikey cover on the bowl and an elegantly curved stem about 10 inches long with an ivory mouthpiece. I was quite looking forward to smoking it except I could not dream up any flamable tobacco.

What an incredible looking pub, and a great pic! I'll have to go there during my next trip to Atlanta...

Cool looking pub, wish we had something similar around these parts. Where did you aquire your pipe? My grandfather used to smoke a pipe, as did my father for a short while. I'm not sure what happened to any of grandpa's old pipes though.

I started smoking pipes back in my theatre days. I had a part where I needed to smoke a pipe. I immediately fell in love with all aspects of the pipe. There is something so much more. . . sensual about the whole process of packing, tamping, charing, and lighting. Like taking tea is more relaxing than drinking coffee.

I have about a dozen pipes in rotation. I love my Wiley pipes as well as GBD and Peterson. I prefer Natural tobaccos and navy blends. Mac Baren Navy Flake is a favorite and Dunhill Christmas blend.

The Ladies live a man in a Kilt. Ladies love the smell of a pipe. What better combination?

I've been smoking a pipe (in between my cigars) for about 3 years now and have just upped my collection to 6 pipes. The latest acquisition is a Mastro Beraldi pipe that is just beautiful. I'm still breaking it in. Others in my collection are a Tsuge, Nording, Peterson, Stanwell, and Karl Erik.

I've got more tobacco than I'll probably ever smoke, but somehow just ordered two more tins. And, I find that I've been reaching for my pipes more and more lately.
