No. 7 here, although heaven knows where I will find the time (not to mention the manual dexterity)! I've spread the word to some ladies of the clan not on this board, I figure the more the merrier. . .

I found some khaki coloured yarn when I was looking for something else, so I thought that I would do some hose to go with my DPM kilts - plain ones rather than try for argyles.

I have just got to where the toe of the sock is try-on-able and am remembering what a joy it is to have hand made to fit socks forming on the needles.

I don't need lessons - I think I have the hang of it after 40 years - I can make either toe up or top down socks too.

Knitting socks is interesting and not so time consuming as making a jersey, plus you can get a heap of yarn and just keep making them, if you wear one into a hole you can pull out that bit and reknit it.

I thoroughly recommend it as a pastime.

Pleater, sounds like you can do just about everything.

I signed up for the group just so I could read along.

I think I have too many pokers in the fire. If I start doing one more thing I'm interested in I'll never get to go to bed. I have wanted to learn to knit for years but between the house building the saddle and holster making and the real job I think I'll just enjoy the successes of everyone else.

    I can't wait.
