The XMTSAS 'Saltire' on New Year's Day
Continuing the adventures of The XMTSAS 'Saltire' in West Sussex........
Following the late night (or rather, early morning) only a few hours earlier, we all awoke at a rather late hour on the morning of New Year's Day. I hate doing that as half the day has slipped away with nothing to show for it! However, after a quick breaking of the fast, we set off to show my wee visitor my favourite local pub - in the next village actually - not that I use it as a pub because I do not really 'do' pubs, but the food is always edible and many's the kiltie I have taken there. It is The Frankland Arms, an old coaching inn built in 1795, in Washington village just three miles from my home:
Once inside, 'The Saltire' wanted to get close to the roaring log fire (it must have developed a taste for this whilst in Wales last week!).
I have to admit that I welcomed the chance of a good warm-up too as the temperature outside was hovering around 30ºF. Moments later Chris, the Landlady, beckoned us over to the bar where I was offered a complimentary New Year drink (a very nice glass of Merlot!):
Unfortunately, 'The Saltire' missed out on this as The Frankland Arms does not carry the right sort of liquid refreshment for airships ......
............ but it was not upset - as far as I could tell.
Fortified and full of New Year cheer, we left the warmth and comfort of the pub, climbed into the car and headed north into deepest West Sussex.
To be continued........
Take care,
Ham.

To quote an infamous Englishman, " You don't get want you want. You don't get want you want.
But you find sometimes you get what you need."
Great pix, Ham!

Nice photos Hamish. It's good to see the Airship didn't over do it bringing in the New Year.
