    Superstitions Hike

I was able to spend Monday through Wednesday after Christmas hiking with my friend Bruce in the Superstition Mountains Wilderness area. We covered about 20 miles backpacking. It was a wonderful refreshing time.

The normally dry desert was filled with streams after abundant rains.

There are things one must look out for, hiking in a kilt!

Weaver's needle looks tiny in the background of this picture, but it is enormous and majestic.

I wore my black wool SWK and it was comfortable in temperatues ranging from 40 to 70 degrees, carrying a 30 lb. backpack

eh, the pics didn't show up quite right for me, http://picasaweb.google.com/hikerlit...34189448960082 http://picasaweb.google.com/hikerlit...34253801131954 http://picasaweb.google.com/hikerlit...34817467255314 that might work better.

You're links didn't quite link to pics, rather image page things, or something weird like that, so I extracted the links, and just did them as links here. Hope that helps, that cactus scares me with the thought of being near it in a kilt.

Cool! Those are the mountains you can see from my place.
I'm hoping I can have someone get a picture of them if they get snow up top in one of the rains down here this winter.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
